How Complete Shopify Speed Optimization Works
Shopify speed optimization is about improving store performance without damaging the design, functionality or customer experience.
A Shopify store may be slowed by large images, unnecessary apps, third-party scripts, theme code, tracking tools or complex page sections. However, removing everything that affects speed is not a useful solution if important store functions stop working.
I first understand what is slowing the store and then improve suitable problems within the agreed scope.
What happens after you place the order?
After your order is confirmed:
-
I normally contact you on WhatsApp within 2–3 business days.
-
I send you the information and access requirements.
-
I use approximately 3–4 business days to review the store and gather baseline information.
-
I identify which performance problems can be improved safely.
-
I begin implementation after the necessary access and approvals are available.
You communicate directly with me through WhatsApp. You can send me questions or information whenever needed, and I will respond when I am online.
If I need approval before changing an app, script or important theme feature, the work may pause until you respond. Late or incomplete responses may move the delivery timeline.
What access may be required?
Depending on the store, I may request:
-
Shopify collaborator access
-
Online Store and theme access
-
Permission to duplicate and edit the theme
-
Access to relevant installed apps
-
Access to Shopify analytics
-
Google Analytics or Tag Manager access when scripts need investigation
-
Information from another developer or app provider
You should never send me your Shopify password, email password or verification codes. Access should be provided through Shopify’s official collaborator system or the relevant platform’s user permissions.
Before changing the live store, I normally work from a duplicated theme or another suitable backup point. This helps protect the existing experience while changes are being tested.
What information do I need?
I may ask you to provide:
-
The pages that feel slowest
-
Your most important product and collection pages
-
Your primary mobile and desktop customer journeys
-
A list of essential store functions
-
Apps that must not be removed
-
Recent theme or developer changes
-
Existing speed reports, if available
-
Known design or functionality problems
-
Information about custom scripts or integrations
-
Upcoming campaigns or launch deadlines
It is important to know which functions are essential. An app may add loading time while still being necessary for reviews, subscriptions, tracking, upsells or customer support.
How speed optimization progresses
The exact work depends on the theme and installed tools, but the process normally includes:
-
Baseline testing: I check important pages and record the current performance before making changes.
-
Store review: I look at images, apps, scripts, fonts, theme sections and other suitable performance factors.
-
Priority selection: I separate useful improvements from changes that could create unnecessary risk.
-
Safe implementation: I improve the agreed problems using a duplicated theme or suitable testing method.
-
Functionality testing: I check important customer actions across desktop and mobile.
-
Comparison: I compare the store before and after the work using appropriate testing tools.
-
Handoff: I provide a summary of the changes, results and any remaining limitations.
I do not remove apps, tracking or customer-facing functionality without understanding the consequences and receiving approval where required.
How long does the service take?
A complete Shopify speed optimization project will generally take approximately 7–15 working days after I receive the required access and information.
The timeline may increase when:
-
The theme contains extensive custom code.
-
Several third-party apps affect performance.
-
An app developer must provide assistance.
-
Important functionality must be rebuilt.
-
Tracking scripts need investigation.
-
Changes require approval from another developer.
-
New problems appear during testing.
-
Access or feedback is delayed.
Speed scores can also change according to the page tested, device, network, installed apps and third-party services. I cannot guarantee a permanent score of 90, 100 or any other fixed number.
Shopify’s infrastructure and external app servers are not completely under my control. The objective is to make sensible improvements while protecting the store—not to chase a perfect testing score by removing useful features.
What you receive
Depending on the agreed scope, you receive:
-
A review of important performance problems
-
Suitable speed improvements
-
Testing across important store pages
-
Mobile and desktop checks
-
Before-and-after observations
-
A completed work summary
-
Recommendations for issues outside the current scope
I do not rush performance work because an untested change can create broken layouts, missing tracking or purchasing problems.
The faster you provide access, information and approvals, the more smoothly the project can move. Direct WhatsApp communication makes the process simple while allowing me enough time to work carefully.
